My Harem (Portrait of the Artist's Wife)

This expressive female portrait captures a moment of quiet introspection and emotional depth. The sitter, poised and contemplative, directs her gaze inward, creating an intimate psychological presence that resonates beyond the canvas. Kutnyak masterfully balances rich, saturated tones — a deep turquoise background against vivid pink and crimson hues — while intricate ornamental patterns add a layer of decorative sophistication. The fan, delicately held, introduces a subtle theatrical gesture, hinting at concealed emotions and timeless femininity. The artist’s textured brushwork enhances the tactile quality of the surface, allowing light and color to interact dynamically. This work embodies a harmonious fusion of classical portraiture and modern painterly expression.
